On May 21, 2006, at approximately 11:30 PM, members of the Lumsden RCMP responded to a complaint of a stabbing at the Kinookimaw Campground near Regina Beach.آ The investigation revealed two young men had been stabbed.آ One man, Misha Pavelick was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital and the other was transported to the Regina General Hospital for emergency medical surgery.آ The investigation which followed resulted in one man being convicted for Aggravated Assault in relation to the stabbing of the man who survived.
The investigation into this incident revealed a private bush party was held at the Kinookimaw Campground for the May long weekend.آ A list of one hundred and twenty one youth signed up to attend the May long weekend party between May 18th and May 22nd, 2006.آ There were a number of youth that were not on the invitation list who attended the party.
